Building Skills, Confidence and Community Every Week

The Gold Coast Wildcats run weekly training sessions for boys and girls from U8 mini ball through to U20 competition. Every session is at Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre, one hour a week, coached by volunteers from the local community who genuinely care about player development. FIND YOUR TEAM

For kids aged 7 and under. Modified rules, coaches on court and lowered rims mean more touches, more scoring and more fun from day one.

First taste of real competition. Players are graded by ability so every game is a fair contest, with coaching focused on the core skills that build a complete player.

Skills sharpen and the game opens up. Players develop ball handling, court vision and defensive habits while starting to understand team play at a deeper level.

Training steps up a gear. Players build technical ability alongside game awareness, learning to make better decisions under real competitive pressure.

Advanced skills, physical development and structured team systems. Players at this level are expected to lead, compete hard and hold each other accountable.

The final step before senior basketball. High level execution, tactical preparation and a competitive environment that challenges players to be ready for what comes next.

TRAINING SCHEDULES

Every team trains once a week at Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre. Sessions are one hour and scheduled to suit each age group, with training days confirmed at the start of each season.

Season Structure

  • U8 Mini Ball: One term at a time, four competitions per year
  • U10 to U20:
    • Season 1: Terms 1 & 2
    • Season 2: Terms 3 & 4
  • Mid-Season Break: Around week 8 of each season
  • Break Between Seasons: 2-3 Weeks

FIXTURES RESULTS

Fixtures and results are accessible through Basketball Connect. This allows families to track upcoming games, ladder positions and performance statistics throughout the season.

Game information is regularly updated so players and parents can stay informed and prepared.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Registrations go through the North Gold Coast Seahawks website. Select Gold Coast Wildcats as your club when prompted. Registrations open a few weeks before each season, so keep an eye on our socials or check back here. Teams fill up quickly, so early is best.

Absolutely. Especially at U8 and U10, most kids are starting from scratch. Our coaches are used to working with beginners, and the younger age groups use modified rules specifically to make the game more accessible. Just get them along and they’ll pick it up.
